This rewarding role involves teaching a small, mixed class of Year 7 and 8 students until the end of the academic year.

The Role: Nurturing KS3 Engagement in a Specialist Setting

You will be responsible for teaching a small, dedicated class of Year 7 and 8 pupils who require a holistic and nurturing approach to learning due to their complex needs, which often include Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) and Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The school is known for its therapeutic approach and a high ratio of support staff, ensuring the focus remains on individual pupil progress and well-being rather than large class sizes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum Delivery: Planning, preparing, and delivering a broad, accessible, and engaging curriculum suitable for the mixed Year 7/8 age group.

  • Planning and Marking: Full responsibility for lesson planning, preparation, and marking, ensuring the curriculum is fully tailored to individual EHCP goals.

  • Classroom Management: Creating a highly structured, calm, and supportive learning environment for students with complex needs.

  • Team Collaboration: Working closely with Teaching Assistants and external agencies to ensure the holistic support and progress of every pupil.

What We're Looking For

We are searching for a committed teacher with a patient and adaptable approach:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK is essential.

  • Experience teaching students with SEN (e.g., SEMH, ASD, or MLD) is highly desirable.

  • Strong classroom management skills with a focus on building positive relationships and de-escalation.

  • Ability to teach a range of subjects effectively to Key Stage 3 (KS3) pupils.

  • Commitment to a full-time position running until the end of the current school year.
