Behaviour Mentor - SEMH Provision - Broadstairs

Academics Ltd is seeking a committed and resilient Behaviour Mentor to join a developing SEMH provision school in Broadstairs. This is an exciting opportunity to support young people who face significant social, emotional and mental health challenges and help them re-engage positively with learning. This provisional SEMH school offers a highly supportive and structured environment for students requiring additional emotional, behavioural, and pastoral support. The team uses trauma-informed and restorative approaches, working together to help pupils build confidence, regulate their emotions, and find success both in and out of the classroom.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will:

  • Build trusting, positive relationships with pupils who present challenging behaviour
  • Deliver targeted behaviour interventions and emotional regulation strategies
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support within class and in breakout spaces
  • Use de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed approaches
  • Support the implementation of personalised behaviour support plans
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral leads, and external agencies
  • Encourage resilience, engagement, and positive decision-making

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, consistent, and empathetic approach
  • Ability to motivate, mentor, and build rapport with disengaged learners
  • Resilience, patience, and a genuine commitment to young people's wellbeing
  • Backgrounds in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, or SEN are highly valued

** Excellent on-site training, support and CPD is provided to ensure safeguarding of all students

** 100 - 130 per day, Mon-Fri, 08:30 to 15:30, PAYE, Term time only
