area who are looking for a Building Safety Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.
They are looking for an experienced Building Safety Manager to join their team, to lead their
commitment to health, safety, environmental, and quality standards across all projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and manage the development, implementation, and monitoring of SHEQ
management systems, policies, and procedures to ensure full compliance with
legal and industry standards.
* Conduct risk assessments and audits on construction sites, ensuring the
identification, reporting, and mitigation of safety, health, environmental, and quality
risks.
* Provide expert advice and support to senior management, project teams, and site
personnel on all aspects of SHEQ.
* Deliver training and development programs to employees at all levels to promote
awareness and ensure adherence to SHEQ standards.
* Monitor and report on SHEQ performance across all projects, ensuring continuous
improvement through regular audits, inspections, and corrective actions.
* Manage investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, ensuring lessons
are learned and shared across the company.
* Ensure that the company meets all relevant health, safety, and environmental legal
requirements and that best practices are followed in construction processes.
* Oversee the development and maintenance of Quality Management Systems
(QMS), ensuring adherence to ISO 9001 or equivalent standards.
* Support sustainability initiatives and ensure compliance with environmental
regulations and sustainability best practices.
* Lead the company's accreditation processes for SHEQ-related certifications and
awards.
* Promote a strong SHEQ culture and encourage collaboration with all teams to
enhance safety and quality outcomes
* Work with colleagues to ensure that H&S policies and procedures are up to date and reflect best practice;
* Keep up to date on relevant H&S legislation and best practice and ensure that any changes are disseminated appropriately to colleagues;
* Be responsible for providing regular management reports to senior managers on landlord, employer and maintenance works & construction client and other relevant aspect of H&S
* Carry our periodic checks on buildings and information held on landlord H&S; Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs), fire safety equipment, lifts, asbestos; gas servicing; electrical testing, water hygiene management, accident and incidents and other H&S related areas;
* To be responsible for procuring FRAs from a fire specialist for all buildings with communal areas;
Key Knowledge:
* Construction industry knowledge
* Social housing/Local authority background
* NEBOSH National/International Diploma or equivalent in Occupational Health and
Safety (essential).
* Chartered membership of IOSH or equivalent professional body (preferable).
* Extensive experience (at least 5 years) in a SHEQ management role, preferably
within the social housing and/or construction sector.
* Strong working knowledge of UK health, safety, environmental, and quality
regulations and standards.
* Proven ability to manage and influence stakeholders at all levels, with excellent
communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience in leading health and safety audits and managing incident
investigations.
