People Solutions are currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established steel stockholder and processor that supplies high-quality steel materials and profiles to customers across the UK. Known for their fast turnaround, excellent customer service, and in-house cutting and fabrication capabilities, they are looking to expand their skilled production team with the addition of an experienced Guillotine/Press Brake Operator.

Day-to-Day Duties:

  • Operate guillotine and press brake machinery to cut and form steel to precise measurements

  • Read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Set up machines and adjust settings for different material thicknesses and profiles

  • Perform quality checks to ensure finished products meet customer and internal specifications

  • Maintain equipment and perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks

  • Ensure health and safety procedures are followed at all times

  • Assist with general workshop duties and support other areas of production when required

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Previous experience operating guillotine and/or press brake machines in a steel or metal fabrication environment

  • Ability to read and work from engineering or fabrication drawings

  • Good attention to detail and understanding of quality standards

  • Strong awareness of health and safety in a production setting

  • A reliable, team-oriented attitude with a willingness to work overtime when needed

Desirable Skills:

  • FLT licence or experience operating overhead cranes

  • Experience working with mild steel or in a stockholding environment

  • Basic mechanical knowledge for machine maintenance

Training:

On-the-job training will be provided for company-specific processes, with opportunities to develop further skills in machine operation, health and safety, and material handling.
