MERITUS are recruiting for an EHS Controller to join our client within the Aviation industry on a 12 month contract with very likely extension. In order to qualify for the role, you must be NEBOSH certified.

EHS CONTROLLER - INSIDE IR35 - 37.07 PER HOUR - BROUGHTON - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

Seeking an experienced EHS Controller to support the Facilities Management and Real Estate team in maintaining a safe, compliant, and engaging working environment. The role focuses on ensuring safety standards, risk management, and regulatory compliance across operations and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support FMRE teams in managing risk and ensuring service providers operate safely

  • Ensure compliance when introducing and maintaining plant and equipment

  • Review safety management systems of FMRE contractors during pre-qualification

  • Conduct inspections of internal operations and service providers, with formal record keeping

  • Provide competent EHS advice across strategic projects from feasibility to design stages

  • Implement and audit processes to ensure legal compliance (e.g., CDM Regulations, Building Safety Act)

  • Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and follow-up of incidents (from near misses to environmental events)

  • Promote safety culture through training, KPI reporting, awareness campaigns, and inductions

  • Advise management teams and support staff on EHS best practices and continuous improvement

Experience & Qualifications:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or equivalent) - essential

  • Proven experience in delivering safety initiatives and reporting to stakeholders

  • Skilled in formal risk assessment and auditing

  • Background in Facilities Management, construction, or maintenance - essential

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively

  • Clear understanding of the practical application of health and safety standards

  • IOSH membership or similar professional affiliation - desirable

  • Committed to continuous professional development
