My client a leader in their field have an urgent opening for a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding commercial team on a permanent basis.
The Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our scaffolding business. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing project costs, preparing estimates, and ensuring commercial control from tender through to final account. This role requires strong knowledge of construction contracts, scaffolding methods, and cost management principles.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, quotations, and tenders for scaffolding projects.
- Conduct site visits to assess project requirements, take measurements, and verify works completed.
- Prepare, negotiate, and agree valuations, variations, and final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Manage cost control and budget monitoring throughout project lifecycles.
- Produce and maintain bills of quantities (BOQs), schedules, and rate analyses specific to scaffolding works.
- Review contracts to ensure compliance with commercial terms, risk management, and profitability.
- Liaise with project managers, site supervisors, and clients to provide commercial and contractual support.
- Monitor labour, material, and equipment usage to ensure efficiency and profitability.
- Prepare monthly applications for payment, cash flow forecasts, and cost reports.
- Resolve any commercial disputes or claims in relation to scaffolding works.
- Stay up to date with industry standards, scaffolding regulations, and health & safety compliance.
Skills & Experience:
- Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within scaffolding, access solutions, or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction contracts would be an advantage (NEC, JCT, or equivalent).
- Proficiency in cost estimating software, MS Excel, and measurement tools.
- Experience with Smart Scaff software an advantage
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
- Strong communication skills with ability to liaise confidently with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of scaffolding methods, materials, and work-at-height regulations (preferred).
