Toyota, the world’s largest automotive manufacturer, is looking to recruit multiple Maintenance Technicians for its prestigious production shops at their Burnaston, Derbyshire plant.
Home to the iconic Toyota Corolla—the world’s second most popular vehicle—this state-of-the-art facility has been at the heart of the community since the early 1990s. Today, it employs over 2,000 dedicated team members, each playing a vital role in Toyota’s continued success.
As Toyota’s flagship European site, the UK division is a critical part of the company’s global operations, contributing an impressive £3 billion to the group’s £210 billion annual turnover. TMUK is internationally renowned for its pioneering approach, consistently leading the way with cutting-edge technologies that give it a competitive edge.
The site is home to five manufacturing shops—Press, Body, Paint, Plastics, and Assembly—each with its own nuances and unique challenges. From precision stamping in Press to final vehicle construction in Assembly, every shop plays a critical role in the production process.
Nestled within their busy press department sits the Tool & Die team. These highly skilled craft people are responsible for arguably the sites most hands on part of the complex manufacturing process, intricately creating the tools and dies required to produce the vehicles.
As a tool and die maintenance technician will be responsible for:
- Utilising machinery such as milling machines, manual lathes, and CNC lathes.
- Preparation and maintenance of existing tooling
- Attending to breakdown on press tooling
- Supporting with the production of new press tooling.
- Mechanical strip and rebuilding
- Welding (Stainless steel/TIG) & Laser (Training given)
- Machining and fabrication
What do Toyota Look for?
If you don’t have the above experience, however, are hardworking, determined to learn and develop your skills then we also want to speak with you. TMUK has a leading training academy which will help bring you in line with the standard of engineering on site.
All they require you to have is the following:
- Experience working as a maintenance technician and/or tool maker.
- Recognised Level 3 engineering qualification NVQ/ C&G (Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics)
- Experience within an engineering environment
- Flexibility to complete the occasional overtime shift.
