Principal Accountant

Location: King Edward Place, DE14 2EB

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide financial and technical advice and support to budget holders and Senior Management.
  • Contribute significantly to the production of the Statutory Accounts.
  • Manage and oversee a team, ensuring effective performance and development.
  • Engage in corporate management accounting within local government, including in-year monitoring and budget setting.
Person Specification
  • CCAB or CIMA qualified with extensive relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Current and in-depth knowledge of local authority corporate finance, including accounting codes of practice and related legislation/regulations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, suitable for providing advice and/or information to senior officers and members.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Sound practical experience in accounting and budgeting in a local authority environment.
  • Proficient IT skills to support financial management and reporting.
