Burton on Trent | £40,000 - £50,000 | Hybrid Working | Client-Facing Role

We’re working with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice with a diverse and loyal client base. They are now looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant Manager to join their growing team and support a broad portfolio of clients, spanning sectors such as agriculture, tech, property, and more.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified accountant who enjoys variety in their work, values client interaction, and is ready to take the next step in their career in a role offering both autonomy and development.

The Role:

As Accounts Assistant Manager, you’ll work across a mixed portfolio of clients, from limited companies and partnerships to landlords and private clients, delivering a wide range of accounting and tax services. You’ll manage workflows, support junior team members, and play a key role in ensuring client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation and review of statutory accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders
  • Handling corporation tax and rental property tax returns
  • Preparation of management accounts and reporting for clients across various sectors
  • Supporting and reviewing the work of junior staff and trainees
  • Building and maintaining strong client relationships
  • Attending client sites where needed (flexibility required)
  • Supporting partners and managers in delivering a high-quality, timely service

About You:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Experience in a UK accountancy practice
  • Comfortable managing a varied workload and a diverse client base
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Personable, confident communicator who enjoys client interaction
  • Capable of supervising or mentoring junior team members
  • Flexible approach to working, including some on-site client work
