Our Engineering client, based in Barton Under Needwood are recruiting for an experienced NDT Inspector for an ongoing contract( min of 3 months)
Job PurposeThe NDT Level II inspector must be qualified to set up and calibrate equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications. The Level II inspector must be familiar with the scope and limitations of the method of NDT being used (MPI) and should exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants to a Level I inspector. The Level II inspector will organise, and report results of NDT (MPI) inspection.Key Responsibilities & Activities* To set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment.* To conduct tests to ensure quality, or detect discontinuities (defects), using NDT methods of inspection.* To establish techniques for examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.* To apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results.* To organise and report test results.* To perform specialized inspections.* May instruct, mentor and supervise others.* To interface daily with the client about work priorities and progress of projects.* Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times.* To actively participate in client programs, planning and strategy sessions.* To work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles.* To actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc.* Keeping the work environment safe.* Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work* Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable* Work to and support all relevant 5S activities.* Report any near misses* To follow the relevant working instructions / process plans / drawings etc.* Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner.* Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager.* Adhere at all times to the company's Health, Safety & Environmental instructions, and requirements.* Take on any other reasonable responsibilities or tasks that are within the employee's skills and abilities.Qualifications/Education Required:* Previous experience in NDT (MPI) is essential.* GCSE in Maths and English desired but not essential* Must have a basic understanding of NDT principles* An NDT Level II Certification is desirable* Must be willing to continue education and training in NDT technology
