Job Title: NDT Inspector
Location: Burton-on-Trent area, Staffordshire
Duration: 6 Months temp to perm
Rate: TBC
Hours :7am till 4pm Monday to Thursday and 7am till 1pm on a Friday.
Own transport is recommended due to location.
Our Engineering client, based in Barton Under Needwood are recruiting for an experienced NDT Inspector for a 6 month contract( temp to perm)
Job Purpose
*Responsible for the set up and calibration of equipment and to interpret and evaluate results with respect to applicable codes, standards, and specifications
* Responsible for on-the-job training and guidance of Assistants to a Level I inspector
* Responsible for organizing and reporting results of NDT (MPI) inspection
Key Responsibilities & Activities
Responsible for ensuring your own health and safety and that of others and promoting a positive health and safety culture within the workplace
* Ensure all Health and safety obligations are met, and company policies are adhered to
* Report any safety concerns, hazard observations, accidents and incidents by the end of that shift to allow full investigation and prevent re-occurrence
* Ensure activities and associated actions and measures taken do not endanger but assist with the upkeep and maintaining the company's ISO (9001, 14001 and 45001) standards and certification
* To set up and calibrate non-destructive testing equipment
* To conduct tests to ensure quality, or detect discontinuities (defects), using NDT methods of inspection
* To establish techniques for examination of objects under inspection, ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations
* To apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
* To organise and report test results
* To perform specialized inspections
*May instruct, mentor and supervise others
* To interface daily with the client about work priorities and progress of projects
* Maintaining clear and honest communication at all times
* To actively participate in client programs, planning and strategy sessions
* To work closely with client to identify and remove obstacles
* To actively participate in client safety initiatives, incident investigations, etc
* Learning and applying the latest relevant knowledge to the work
* Mentor trainees / apprentices when applicable
* Support all relevant 5S activities
* To follow the relevant working instructions / process plans / drawings etc
* Ensure that waste is disposed of in the correct manner
* Report any issues or problems with jobs to the line manager
Qualifications/Education Required:
* Previous experience in NDT (MPI) is essential.
* GCSE in Maths and English desired but not essential
* Must have a basic understanding of NDT principles
* An NDT Level II Certification is desirable
* Must be willing to continue education and training in NDT technology
