To deliver engaging, challenging, and inclusive Business Studies lessons that enable students to develop entrepreneurial, analytical, and financial awareness skills. The Business Teacher will inspire a passion for enterprise, prepare students for academic success at GCSE and beyond, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Learning

Plan and deliver high-quality Business Studies lessons at KS4 (GCSE/BTEC) and KS5 (A-Level/BTEC) where applicable.

Use a range of teaching methods to inspire, engage, and challenge learners.

Differentiate lessons to meet the needs of all students, including SEN and EAL.

Assess, record, and report on student progress, providing feedback to support achievement.

Promote high standards of literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking across the curriculum.
Curriculum & Assessment

Contribute to the development of schemes of work, resources, and assessments for Business Studies.

Prepare students for internal and external assessments (GCSE, BTEC, A-Level as appropriate).

Monitor student progress and implement interventions where necessary to raise attainment.
Classroom & Behaviour Management

Establish a safe, positive, and purposeful learning environment.

Uphold high expectations of student behaviour in line with school policies.

Encourage independence, resilience, and confidence in learners.
Enrichment & Wider Contribution

Support enrichment opportunities such as enterprise clubs, Young Enterprise competitions, and business-related trips.

Contribute to whole-school initiatives to promote careers, employability, and financial literacy.

Provide additional support through revision sessions, targeted interventions, or mentoring.
Professional Responsibilities

Engage in CPD and remain up to date with developments in Business education.

Attend staff meetings, parents’ evenings, and contribute to the wider school community.

Undertake any additional responsibilities reasonably requested by the Head of Faculty or Headteacher.

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or working towards QTS.

Strong subject knowledge in Business Studies.

Ability to plan and deliver high-quality lessons that engage and challenge students.

Commitment to raising achievement and aspirations of all learners.

Strong communication and organisational skills.
Desirable:

Experience of teaching Business Studies at KS5.

Ability to teach a related subject (e.g. Economics, ICT, or Enterprise).
