Bennett & Game are representing a well-respected engineering consultancy with UK offices in Oldham and Burton-upon-Trent, who are currently seeking a Development Engineer to join their specialist team. This role offers the chance to work at the forefront of product design and innovation, developing safe, robust and economical engineered solutions for both the rental and sale markets. The successful candidate will gain exposure to manufacturing processes, customer-driven design improvements, and special formwork development while working in a supportive, progressive environment.

Development Engineer Job Overview
  • Develop new product ideas for both rental and sale markets, producing accurate manufacturing drawings.
  • Design and develop components and improvements based on customer requirements.
  • Create special fabricated formwork designs for sale.
  • Carry out calculations to current codes in support of product development.
  • Produce and maintain QA procedures to ensure high standards and tolerances in manufacturing.
  • Inspect and test new products, ensuring quality and safety compliance.
  • Travel to UK offices and manufacturing facilities to support product opportunities and quality standards.
  • Undertake any additional responsibilities as directed by management.
Development Engineer Job Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a relevant engineering or product development role (5+ years desirable).
  • Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil or Structural); strong structural/mechanical calculation background.
  • Knowledge of steel fabrication and manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, and structural/finite element analysis packages (e.g. RSTAB, RFEM, Nastran).
  • Strong project management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable working across all business levels.
  • Demonstrates behaviours of collaboration, innovation, feedback, and accountability.
  • Willingness to learn and develop design and product engineering skills further.
  • Chartered membership of a professional body (desirable).
