Major Recruitment are seeking a Production Shift Manager to join our client at their manufacturing site near Burton Upon Trent
The Production Shift Manager will be a key team player within the SLT, responsible for the manufacturing operations on a day-to-day basis and adept at driving continuous improvement activities within the scope of the role towards the achievement of operational results and standards. You will be accountable for all operations in terms of Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and Morale (SQCDM), whilst communicating effectively with all key customers (Internal and External), demonstrating a flexible approach to meeting business requirements, and ensuring that all business and customer targets and standards are met.
Key Responsibilities as Production Shift Manager:
- Ensure sufficient shift resources and if necessary address any variations to plan.
- To ensure all Operators carry out their duties to the required standard and all finished products are manufactured to the agreed specifications, following the established policies and procedures.
- Responsible for the Health & Safety of all shift staff within the area.
- Management of Shift rotas and crew size to be within budget (Including Agency)
- Control and management of all processes and practices within area to ensure that quality and outputs targets are met
- Continuous Improvement activities to improve People, Quality & Profit.
- Management of service levels to ensure we deliver on time, in full, without complaint.
- Operator training and coaching
- Overtime planning/back-up for absent Operators.
- Responsible for ensuring the pace of work is maintained at the required level.
- Coordinate production start-ups, shutdowns and changeovers.
- Completion of shift paperwork, reports and communication of plans/ target attainment.
- Liaison with other stakeholders i.e. Engineering, Planning, technical and purchasing.
- Responsible for carrying out any duties required of them up to the level of training attained.
- Management of the site's food safety culture, to help prevent deviation in the process that impacts the safety, quality and legality of our products.
- Understand and adhere to Company policies and procedures which are relevant to both the site and the working environment.
- Any other duties as deemed reasonable by your line manager or senior management to assist with the operation of the business.
- Undertake and managerial responsibilities such as disciplinary hearings and one to one's.
- Cover for the absence of the Production Manager

- Monday - Friday working a rotation 6am - 2pm & 2pm - 10pm

Skills & Experience required Production Manager:
- A minimum of 2 year's experience within high care. Short shelf life
- Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and quality control standards
- Ability to troubleshoot production issues and implement solutions effectively.
- Experience in leading a team through change.
- A proven track record in developing others and encouraging decision making and accountability at the right level is essential for the role.
- Previous experience of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement processes are essential.
- BRCG experience
- Experience in managing an engineering function.
Qualifications
- HACCP Level 3, Level 4 would be desirable.
- H&S qualification would be desirable.
