HGV Class 2 REFUSE DriverDE14 2NS 'Burton On Trent'Temporary / On-going [until further notice]Immediate startMonday to Friday with optional weekend workDay shifts only, starting 06:30am / Finishing: 14:20pmRate £15.90 per hour [£23.85 after 7.5 hours]This is a fantastic opportunity to join Gi Group and work with one of our Local Authority Clients in Burton On Trent. This role will be part of a large team of Drivers supporting the environmental services provided by our Client. The successful candidates must be committed to providing a first class service. You should be able to fully demonstrate a high level of driving competence and have a flexible approach to your work.Driver Responsibilities:- Driving an LGV waste collection vehicle, its crew and all activities associated with the collection and loading of refuse and recycling to support the Council's Waste Management Operation.- To undertake, individually or as part of a collection crew, all duties connected with the collection of domestic and commercial waste, including recyclables, organics, food waste and residual waste.- To drive and be responsible for the allocated waste collection vehicle, including its security.- To control and supervise the collection of waste and the subsequent tipping at specified locations, including the supervision of crew members.- Prior to leaving the depot, to check that the vehicle is roadworthy and carry out the Daily Vehicle Maintenance Checks. Record any deficiencies and report them to the Supervisor. To be responsible for reporting vehicle defects in accordance with Council procedure.- To operate the vehicle in accordance with the Highway Code and appropriate Statutory Regulations, including speed limits and driver hours. - To ensure that the vehicle does not carry in excess of the legally permitted maximum load.- To work on Public and Bank Holidays and, on occasion, at weekends, as directed by the Operations and Fleet Manager, to ensure the provision of an efficient and effective public service.- To work the necessary overtime, as directed by the Operations and Fleet Manager.- To carry out daily vehicle checks and report defects in accordance with current procedure to ensure that the vehicle is maintained and legal to be driven on the road- To complete all relevant records (paper based or digital) legibly and in a timely fashion, as requested by the supervisor. This includes the completion of round report sheets, drivers' logbooks and defect reports.- To report to the team leader or supervisor any problems associated with the completion of work.- To clean the exterior and interior of the vehicle regularly when the need arises.- To ensure that all company Health & Safety policies are adhered to as well as customer site rules.- To drive defensively and fuel efficiently at all times.- To wear all required PPE.Driver requirements and skills:- You MUST be in possession of a HGV Class 2 license, Driver CPC & DIGI Cards- Motoring convictions starting with the code SP for speeding offences are acceptable, up to a max. of 6 points.
