NXTGEN is delighted to be partnering with an exciting accountancy firm in Bury St Edmunds to recruit a Cloud Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a modern and fast-growing team within a practice that's truly breaking the mould. With a continually expanding client base and an experienced, energetic team, this role offers the kind of variety and exposure rarely found in the local market, including direct access to high-value and complex clients.

As Cloud Accountant, you'll take ownership of a select portfolio of clients, ensuring they receive a first-class service. You'll deliver hands-on support across a broad range of responsibilities, including accounts preparation, bookkeeping, management accounts, VAT, and tax returns. You'll also play a key role in digital transformation projects, advising clients on the implementation and optimisation of cloud accounting systems to drive efficiency and performance.

This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys a balance of hands-on technical work and advisory support, and who thrives in a fast-paced, tech-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage bookkeeping and transactional processes for a portfolio of exciting, growth-focused clients
  • Prepare accurate management accounts, VAT returns and cashflow forecasts
  • Liaise directly with clients to support their day-to-day financial operations
  • Collaborate with a respected Partner on high-value client work and technical queries
  • Lead on the implementation and optimisation of cloud accounting systems such as Xero and QuickBooks
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, helping to nurture future talent

What this client is looking for:

  • QBE with strong relevant experience, AAT qualified, or actively studying towards ACCA
  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice setting is essential this role
  • Confident communicator with a client-first approach
  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, QuickBooks, and Excel
  • Enthusiastic and ambitious
