Senior Planner
Location: Bury St Edmunds

Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a successful and growing housebuilder in their search for a Senior Planner to join their planning and development team based in Bury St Edmunds.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planning professional to play a key role in shaping and delivering high quality residential developments across East Anglia. You'll be joining a well established and respected developer that combines design quality with a strong commitment to sustainability and community led growth.

The Role
As a Senior Planner, you'll take ownership of a varied portfolio of projects, managing all aspects of the planning process from site identification through to consent. You'll collaborate closely with internal design, technical, and land teams, as well as external consultants, to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing, submitting, and managing planning applications and appeals.

  • Providing strategic planning advice to internal stakeholders and senior management.

  • Engaging with local authorities, stakeholders, and consultants throughout the planning process.

  • Monitoring local plans and identifying future development opportunities.

  • Supporting the wider business in securing and delivering strategic land and development opportunities.

About You

  • Degree (and ideally master's) in Town Planning or a related discipline.

  • MRTPI qualified (or working towards chartership).

  • Relevant planning experience, ideally within a housebuilder, consultancy, or local authority.

  • Strong understanding of residential development, planning policy, and local authority processes.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.

  • A proactive, organised approach and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
