Project Manager - Earthworks (Bury St Edmunds Area)

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a strong background in earthworks? Are you looking for an exciting new challenge in the Bury St Edmunds region?

We are seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Project Manager to lead and deliver a key earthworks project in the vicinity of Bury St Edmunds. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the project from inception to completion, ensuring it is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all on-site activities, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality specifications.
  • Develop and implement detailed project plans, including resource allocation, scheduling, and risk management.
  • Oversee and coordinate subcontractors, plant, machinery, and personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations on site.
  • Liaise effectively with clients, stakeholders, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure smooth project progression and communication.
  • Monitor and control project costs, providing regular financial updates and reports.
  • Oversee quality control of all earthworks operations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate potential project risks and challenges.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports and site diaries.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager in the civil engineering or construction sector, with a strong emphasis on earthworks projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of earthmoving techniques, groundworks, site remediation, and associated plant and machinery.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental legislation relevant to construction and earthworks.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proficient in project management software and methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (e.g., HNC, HND, Degree).
  • A valid CSCS card and SMSTS qualification are highly desirable.
