NXTGEN is excited to be working closely with a highly regarded accountancy practice in Bury St Edmunds to recruit an Accounts Assistant Manager for their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is recently qualified and looking to expand their knowledge, while taking the next step in their post-qualification career. The role has arisen following a number of recent internal promotions and client wins, highlighting the firm's commitment to developing their people and continually strengthening their service offering.

As Accounts Assistant Manager, you will work closely with an experienced leadership team who will provide one-to-one mentoring and clear timeframes for progression to Manager and beyond. In this role, you will be responsible for managing your own portfolio of clients, supporting with the preparation of complex accounts and tax returns, and providing high-quality advice to help clients achieve their business goals. You will also play a key part in reviewing the work of junior team members, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and contributing to the continued growth and success of the practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a portfolio of clients across a variety of sectors, acting as their primary point of contact
  • Preparing and reviewing year end accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Reviewing tax computations and returns, ensuring compliance and identifying planning opportunities
  • Mentoring and developing junior staff to help them achieve their potential
  • Supporting Partners with business development opportunities and contributing to client proposals

What we are looking for:

  • ACA or ACCA qualified
  • Previous experience in an accountancy practice environment
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build trusted client relationships
  • Ambition to progress to Manager level within a structured timeframe
