Contract: Fixed Term (6 months) Prison-based role requiring full site presence and face-to-face learner engagement.
Role Overview:
We are recruiting a skilled Motor Mechanics Tutor to deliver high-quality vocational training within a prison setting. You will work with small groups of learners to develop practical skills, knowledge, and behaviours that support their long-term goals and reduce re-offending.
This role involves creating tailored training plans, delivering engaging lessons, and providing guidance to help learners overcome barriers and achieve qualifications. It requires flexibility, resilience, and a passion for vocational education.
Key Responsibilities:
Learner Support & Vocational Delivery
Deliver Motor Mechanics training up to Level 2.
Identify individual learner needs and create personalised learning plans linked to employment goals.
Prepare, deliver, and review comprehensive lesson plans addressing vocational skills and employability.
Engage and motivate learners to increase retention and progression.
Provide constructive feedback and adapt curriculum content based on learner feedback.
Programme Administration & Compliance
Complete all required documentation (registers, enrolment forms, ILPs, reviews, awarding body paperwork) in line with contractual deadlines.
Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, and data protection standards.
Meet contractual KPIs and performance targets.
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work with colleagues to support learner progression towards qualifications and employment.
Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Criteria:
Level 2 vocational qualification in Motor Mechanics.
Substantial vocational experience in Motor Mechanics.
Experience delivering vocational training.
Ability to use diverse teaching methods to engage learners.
Strong communication and facilitation skills.
Understanding of safeguarding, equal opportunities, health and safety, and data protection.
Desirable Criteria:
Teaching or assessing qualification (or willingness to work towards).
Experience developing curriculum and delivering roll-on, roll-off programmes.
Empathy and experience working with disadvantaged groups or in secure environments.
Knowledge of OFSTED Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
