Our client, a well-established and forward-thinking organisation based in Bury St Edmunds, is looking for a Shift Maintenance Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a shift-based role operating on a Panama shift pattern (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off), offering a great opportunity for experienced engineers to work in a highly automated, fast-paced environment.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Engineering Lead and working within a multi-skilled shift team, you will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the site. The role involves working on a wide range of process and packaging machinery, as well as supporting site infrastructure and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance on production machinery and systems
- Conduct effective fault diagnosis and troubleshooting on both electrical and mechanical equipment
- Support the installation, modification, and commissioning of equipment and systems
- Complete planned inspections and proactive maintenance tasks
- Accurately record all maintenance activities using the Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
Requirements:
- Proven experience in fault-finding, problem solving, and maintenance within a manufacturing environment
- Experience working in a lean, high-paced environment, preferably FMCG
- ONC/HNC in Engineering with a recognised apprenticeship
- Strong understanding of health & safety within industrial or food/feed production settings
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team setting
- Skilled in managing priorities in a shift-based environment
