Health & Safety Manager
  • Contract Duration: 3 months initially
  • Hours: 37 hours per week
  • Location: Bury campus, with travel within the locality
  • Day rate: £350 -£400 per day.

We are seeking a Health & Safety Manager with extensive experience in local government or similar complex multi-site public-facing services. This role requires a NEBOSH Level 7 qualification and involves working at least 2 days in the office per week. The successful candidate will lead the development and implementation of corporate health and safety policies and procedures.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead the management of corporate Health and Safety services, including oversight of Health & Safety Advisors and contracts.
  • Represent the council at internal and external Health & Safety meetings and forums.
  • Provide oversight and regular reporting of Health & Safety activities to governance forums.
  • Raise awareness and support managers in understanding their Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Prepare information to support specific projects concerning Health, Safety, Fire, and Risk Management legislation, regulation, and best practice.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • NEBOSH Level 7 certification.
  • Extensive experience in a similar role within local government or a comparable complex environment.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively to drive compliance and change.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to train, coach, and mentor staff.
