Our client, a well-established and nationally recognised firm with a strong presence across the North West, is looking to recruit a skilled Commercial Litigation Solicitor to join their growing team based in Bury. This role offers the chance to handle a broad range of commercial disputes for a diverse client base that includes SMEs, owner-managed businesses, and high-profile commercial entities across various sectors.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a detail-oriented, commercially minded solicitor who thrives on resolving complex disputes and building strong client relationships.

The Role

You’ll manage a caseload of commercial dispute resolution matters from start to finish, including complex and high-value cases. The scope of work may include shareholder disputes, director and partnership issues, commercial contract disagreements, and more, depending on your expertise.

You’ll play a key role in ensuring a high standard of legal advice and representation, while also contributing to the team’s growth and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse caseload of commercial litigation matters, including:

    • Shareholder and director disputes

    • Partnership disputes

    • Commercial contract disputes

    • High-value claims (and, where applicable, commercial property, landlord/tenant, and professional negligence matters)

  • Conduct client interviews and provide clear, pragmatic legal advice tailored to each case.

  • Negotiate with opposing parties to secure favourable outcomes.

  • Research and analyse case law, documents, and legal issues to provide accurate advice and documentation.

  • Draft high-quality legal correspondence, pleadings, and case strategy documentation.

  • Instruct and liaise with barristers or expert witnesses where necessary.

  • Proactively manage case progress, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.

  • Supervise, mentor, and support junior legal team members, delegating where appropriate.

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients, referrers, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor time recording and billing targets to ensure productivity.

  • Comply with SRA, Lexcel, and firm policies on confidentiality and best practice.

  • Actively contribute to business development and marketing initiatives.

  • Keep up to date with legal developments and engage in personal development and training.

What They’re Looking For

  • Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with 5+ years PQE in commercial litigation.

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience handling a range of commercial disputes.

  • Confident communicator with a sensitive and professional approach to client care.

  • Highly organised, methodical, and able to manage deadlines effectively.

  • Commercially astute, with an interest in contributing to firm growth and client retention.

  • Previous supervisory experience is desirable but not essential.

  • Proficient with legal software and case management systems.
