About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join our client’s legal team on a temporary basis. This role is ideal for a legal professional with a strong background in criminal prosecutions, regulatory law, and local government legal services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and representation in criminal prosecutions and regulatory matters.
  • Support and advise the Licensing Committee, including attendance at Full Licensing Committee meetings (maximum once per month, evenings, starting September 2025).
  • Attend Manchester & Salford Magistrates’ Courts as required (on average, less than once per week).
  • Draft legal documents, prepare case files, and manage caseloads efficiently.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external stakeholders to ensure legal compliance and effective service delivery.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Solicitor/Barrister/Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.
  • Proven experience in criminal prosecutions and regulatory law within a local government setting.
  • Strong knowledge of licensing law and experience supporting Licensing Committees.
  • Excellent advocacy, communication, and case management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
