Hays Senior Finance are delighted to be working with South Caernarfon Creameries to recruit a Finance Director. SCC is a farmer-owned co-operative established in 1938. They have grown and innovated ever since and today the business processes circa 200m litres of Welsh milk per annum into high-quality cheese and dairy products which are supplied to leading retailers, wholesalers and export markets. Turnover has grown over the last decade from £30m to a forecasted £120m in the coming year. This is underpinned by investment of over £35m in its facilities over the same period.
Due to an impending retirement, SCC are looking to appoint a qualified Finance Director with extensive manufacturing experience to lead the finance team and join the Board of Directors. Reporting to the Managing Director, you will contribute to the attainment of the company's business objectives by:
- Providing strategic and financial guidance to ensure that the company's financial commitments are met
- Developing all necessary policies and procedures to ensure the sound financial management and control of the company's business
Main Responsibilities
- Direct and control a small and stable finance/IT team to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard.
- Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy.
- Develop and control the company's annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met, and financial and statutory regulations are complied with.
- Provide financial advice and guidance to the company's managers and staff to enable them to achieve their objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of the company's financial accounts to ensure that these are presented accurately and on time.
- Develop and maintain all necessary controls, systems, policies and procedures to ensure effective and efficient financial management within the company.
- Carry out all necessary actions to ensure that the company meets its financial and legal obligations.
Knowledge, skills and experience required
As a member of the Board, a strong ability to communicate and motivate successfully at all levels is essential.
- Extensive senior level accountancy experience.
- Significant managerial experience.
- Knowledge of process/manufacturing industry.
- Strategic thinking skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
