Overview

A well-established manufacturing business is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team on site. This is a varied role supporting both finance and operations, ensuring smooth processing of accounts while keeping the factory and office teams connected. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices, and staff expenses accurately and on time
• Reconciling supplier statements and preparing payment runs for materials and services
• Supporting the month-end process, including stock adjustments, accruals, and journals
• Assisting with credit control, chasing outstanding payments from customers where needed
• Monitoring production-related costs and raising purchase orders for site requirements
• Maintaining accurate records within the ERP/MRP and accounting system
• Preparing basic reports for management, including spend analysis and cost tracking
• Liaising with operations, procurement, and stores teams to resolve queries quickly
• Providing general finance and administrative support to the wider site team

Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role, ideally within a manufacturing or engineering business
• Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage, Xero, or similar)
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
• Confident communicator, able to liaise with both shop-floor staff and external suppliers/customers
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a busy team
• AAT qualification (or working towards) would be an advantage but not essential
