LHH is delighted to partner with Stirling Council as they seek an Accountant to join their team. At Stirling Council, our corporate services are key in supporting our organisation and our people in overcoming the challenges we face. We know it is critical for us to build these services to ensure that we have a Finance function with the resource and talent required to help achieve our council's aims and ambitions.

Within this role you will be working under the direction of the Finance Team Leader, you'll support the development and management of budgets, financial monitoring, and project-based financial analysis.

As Accountant, you will provide accountancy support across a wide range of council services. You will be responsible for preparing revenue and capital budgets, producing regular financial monitoring statements, and supporting corporate and service-based projects. The role involves developing and maintaining financial systems, preparing financial returns and grant claims, contributing to the annual accounts process, and advising on specialist areas such as capital and VAT. You will also have supervisory responsibilities, overseeing the work of Accountancy Assistants.

We are seeking someone who is fully qualified in a professional accountancy qualification (CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or CA). You should have a strong understanding of local government accounting and capital accounting, experience of financial systems development, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to interpret complex financial data, work effectively under pressure, and manage multiple priorities.
