Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Chef de Partie to become a part of a dynamic, professional kitchen team at one of the oldest Colleges in Cambridge. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary arts and a strong understanding of food safety and preparation techniques, as well as have an NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery (minimum). As a Chef de Partie, you will play a vital role in ensuring that dishes are prepared to the highest standards, contributing to an exceptional dining experience for Fellows and students.

Responsibilities

  • To run sections of the kitchen and taking responsibility of workload, whilst maintaining high standards.
  • Ensure all food safety guidelines are followed, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment.
  • Assist in meal preparation, including chopping, slicing, and marinating ingredients.
  • To be involved in menu planning.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and report any maintenance issues promptly.
  • To act as a shift leader in the absence of the Junior Sous Chef.
  • To be aware of food allergies.
  • Carry out other duties required by the Head Chef and Sous Chefs.
  • Support Pastry Chef where needed.

Qualifications

  • 5 years experience in a professional kitchen.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques.
  • Familiarity with various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
