Senior Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Flood Risk and Hydraulic Modelling Consultant to join a respected environmental consultancy in Cambridge. This role is ideal for an experienced specialist ready to take technical ownership of modelling, hydrology and flood risk assessments while supporting the growth of a regional team.

Working with colleagues across multiple offices, you will deliver high quality flood risk assessments, hydrological studies and hydraulic modelling for residential, commercial and mixed use developments. You will also support mentoring, project management and liaison with regulators, giving you a clear progression path towards Principal level responsibility.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Flood Risk Assessments, modelling reports and ES chapters.

  • Undertake hydrological analysis using FEH Statistical, ReFH2 and WINFAP.

  • Build, run and troubleshoot hydraulic models using HEC RAS, TUFLOW, ESTRY or Flood Modeller.

  • Carry out site walkovers, risk assessments and survey scoping.

  • Liaise with clients, regulators and design teams and support fee proposal preparation.

  • Guide and support junior members of the team.

  • Manage project timescales and budgets with support from senior colleagues.

About You

  • Degree in geography, environmental science, engineering or similar.

  • At least five years' experience in flood risk consultancy and hydraulic modelling.

  • Strong understanding of flood and drainage policy across the UK.

  • Skilled in hydrology and modelling software with a willingness to expand capability.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proactive, organised and confident engaging with stakeholders.
