The Role: Lecturer – Electrical Installations

An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual to join a leading further education institution as a Lecturer in Electrical Installations. You will deliver high-quality, inspirational teaching across a range of Electrical Installations programmes to learners of varying ages and abilities. Your responsibilities will include course design and development, preparing teaching materials, maintaining records, and supporting students in achieving their academic and career goals. Participation in course reviews, administrative activities, and promotion of the department are integral parts of this role.

Key Responsibilities:
•    Deliver engaging, high-quality teaching in Electrical Installations, including evenings and occasional weekends.
•    Develop course materials, assessment papers, and electronic resources.
•    Undertake administrative tasks to ensure effective programme operation.
•    Act as a course tutor: supporting learners, tracking and reviewing progress, providing feedback, and assisting with work placements.
•    Support the recruitment and induction of new students.
•    Collaborate with colleagues to review curriculum and integrate maths and English when appropriate.
•    Liaise with awarding bodies and external stakeholders.
•    Remain current in your specialist area through ongoing professional development and industry links.
•    Ensure full compliance with safeguarding, equality and diversity, and health and safety policies.

What You’ll Need:
•    Recognised qualifications in Electrical Installations (minimum Advanced Craft/NVQ Level 3 required).
•    Substantial, relevant and recent industry experience.
•    Certificate in Education, PGCE, DTLLS, or a willingness to work towards one (full support provided).
•    Assessor (A1 or equivalent) and/or Internal Verifier (V1 or equivalent) qualifications are desirable.
•    Good working knowledge of current industry standards and curriculum requirements.
•    Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills.
•    Strong IT skills for creating engaging teaching resources.
•    Flexibility, motivation, and the ability to inspire and support students of all backgrounds.

Special Conditions:
•    Some evening and weekend work required.
•    Must be able to travel independently across college sites.
•    This post is classed as regulated activity and requires an enhanced DBS check.
