An excellent opportunity has arisen, for a permanent, part-time Rights Administrator to be part of a small, successful, independent team at an international publishing house. As the Rights Administrator, you will work alongside the Head of Rights and the Rights Manager, to support and grow this flourishing department. It is a varied position including administrative, finance and marketing tasks. The role will involve working closely with the established and friendly rights team based in Cambridge, as well as collaborating with other departments based in the UK and overseas.

The working hours will be between 21-24 hours per week, with flexibility on working pattern. The company are based in Cambridge City Centre but offer a hybrid working arrangement, with 2 days in the office.

Key Duties

Administrative:

  • Updating rights records with information from clients on receipt of their royalties (annual sales statements) in addition to issuing regular reminders for missing statements.
  • Administrative support for permissions requests to enable organisation to proceed to licence.
  • Updating databases on receipt of published translations and arranging delivery of these to authors/ editors.
  • Issuing options to foreign publishers and agents so that they may consider titles for translation and supplying accompanying review materials.
  • Occasional assistance supporting colleagues attending international book fairs - recording interest received from clients.

Finance:

  • Processing royalty receipts from clients across the subsidiary rights portfolio - audiobook, translation and co-publication
  • Administration of tax documents between HMRC and clients for the reduction of withholding tax on international payments
  • Support for day-to-day tasks including invoicing, receipt processing and credit control.

Marketing:

  • Preparing catalogues for international book fairs and audiobook licensing partners

Key Skills and Abilities

  • The ability to demonstrate relevant administrative experience
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Competency in MS Office including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Meticulous attention to detail for financial systems and record maintenance
  • Highly organised and able to manage a busy and varied workload
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently
  • A willingness to be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the team and department
