Overview:

Unify are thrilled to be recruiting for a Class 1 HGV Driver to join a well established Plant Hire Construction company. As a Class 1 HGV Driver you will be responsible for the delivery and collection of heavy plant and construction equipment across various UK locations.

This position involves regular overnight stays, so flexibility and a commitment to travel are essential.

What do I need?

  • A valid Class 1 HGV licence with a clean driving record
  • CPC qualification and a valid Tachograph card
  • The right to work in the UK
  • Previous experience transporting heavy plant machinery (highly desirable)
  • A good understanding of loading and securing plant/construction equipment
  • Solid knowledge of driver hours and tachograph regulations

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly to ensure continued compliance
  • Operate a Class 1 HGV to transport heavy machinery and equipment safely between various locations
  • Follow all health and safety procedures when loading, unloading, and delivering equipment
  • Communicate effectively with the transport office, clients, and site staff regarding any delivery or routing issues
  • Manage the collection and drop-off of equipment, completing all relevant records using a tablet-based system
  • Secure all loads safely and in accordance with best practices for plant and construction equipment
  • Maintain accurate logs, timesheets, and delivery documentation
  • Support the wider operations and logistics team with additional duties as required
  • Adhere to all legal requirements and company standards concerning road safety, weight limits, and driver hours
