Sub Agent

Job Title: Sub Agent - Highways
Start Date: Mid to Late May
Contract Length: 4 Months (Initial)
IR35 Status: Inside IR35
Location: Cambridge
Shift: Day Shifts

We are currently looking for an experienced Sub Agent to join a major highways scheme in Cambridge, working day shifts starting mid to late May. This is a key role in the delivery team, initially offered as a 4-month contract with strong potential for extension. The role is inside IR35.

• 
  Manage and coordinate daily site activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant delivery of works.
• 
  Oversee drainage and surfacing packages, ensuring alignment with design, programme, and quality standards.
• 
  Supervise and support engineers and subcontractors on site.
• 
  Monitor progress, maintain records, and manage QA documentation and site paperwork (RAMS, ITPs, permits, etc).
• 
  Provide input into setting out and ensure accuracy in delivery.
• 
  Liaise with project management, clients, and key stakeholders regularly.
• 
  Promote and maintain a strong health & safety culture on site.

• 
  Proven experience as a Sub Agent or experienced Senior Engineer on highways or civil infrastructure projects.
• 
  Solid understanding of drainage and surfacing works.
• 
  Competent in overseeing multiple engineers and subcontractor teams.
• 
  Experience supporting or managing setting out activities.
• 
  Familiarity with DMRB and other relevant highways construction standards.
• 
  Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• 
  HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering (or similar).
• 
  CSCS (Black or White), SMSTS, and First Aid (preferred).
• 
  Previous experience delivering highways works on day shifts.
