Gardener Historic Estate

A rare opportunity to join the Gardens Team of a prestigious historic estate in Cambridge. We are seeking a skilled and passionate Gardener to support the Head Gardener in maintaining and enhancing the grounds to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Garden maintenance: lawns, hedges, pruning, planting, and greenhouse work

  • Use of a range of machinery and hand tools (training provided)

  • Supporting new planting schemes and landscape developments

  • Ensuring safe working practices (including working at height and with machinery)

  • Communicating effectively with the team and wider estate staff

Requirements:

  • Level 2 horticultural qualification or equivalent experience

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Sound plant knowledge and passion for horticulture

  • Awareness of Health & Safety, especially in public-facing gardens

  • Team player with ability to work independently

  • Physically fit and happy to work outdoors in all weather

Desirable:

  • Experience in large or public gardens

  • PA1/PA6 spraying licence

  • Propagation skills and broad plant knowledge

  • Basic IT skills

  • Environmentally responsible gardening approach

Details:

  • 37 hours/week, Monday to Friday (part-time considered)

  • Occasional out-of-hours work (e.g. watering rota)

  • Reporting to: Head Gardener
