Assistant School Business Manager (Interim)
Location: Cambridgeshire
Contract: 3 days per week, ASAP start - Easter 2026
Rate: Competitive daily rate
We are seeking an organised, proactive, and committed Assistant School Business Manager to join a supportive Primary School in Cambridgeshire on an interim basis. This is a part-time role (3 days per week) starting immediately and running until Easter 2026.
You will be supporting the School Business Manager in running the department, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operations on two days each week, with a crossover day alongside the SBM. This role requires someone who can work independently, manage a varied workload, and bring a positive "can do" attitude.
Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the SBM in the overall management of school business functions.

  • Premises management and ensuring health & safety compliance.

  • Supporting HR processes, including safer recruitment and staff records.

  • Assisting with finance administration, budget monitoring, procurement, and payroll.

  • Overseeing contracts, suppliers, and compliance processes.

  • Managing school office administration and providing operational support to staff.

  • Maintaining accurate pupil and staff records using the school MIS (experience with Arbour is desirable, but MIS experience is essential).

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a School Business Manager or similar leadership administration role.

  • Strong organisational and communication skills.

  • Confidence in using school MIS systems and MS Office.

  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a supportive team.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a thriving Primary School and play a key role in supporting its operational and strategic development.
