Mechanical Design Engineer - Robotics

Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in robotics and precision electromechanical design? Do you live in the Cambridge area or would love the opportunity to relocate and work in one of the UK's most exciting tech hubs?

If so, our client an innovative tech for good start-up is actively hiring for a position based in Cambridge to support operations across their UK and EU functions.

The Mechanical Design Engineer, based in Cambridge, UK, will be responsible for:

  • Designing and developing robotic components including precision mechanisms and enclosures
  • Creating complex parts and assemblies using SolidWorks with a focus on plastic injection moulding, sheet metal, and CNC machining
  • Performing FEA and thermal analysis to validate mechanical designs
  • Collaborating with electronics, software, and research teams in an Agile environment
  • Supporting testing, debugging, and DFM for scalable production

  • A degree or master's in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience of hands-on mechanical design experience
  • Strong proficiency with SolidWorks, including generating manufacturing drawings
  • Proven experience designing injection-moulded plastic parts, sheet metal enclosures, and precision mechanical assemblies
  • Familiarity with FEA tools, prototyping, and mechanical testing
  • A practical, hands-on approach and excellent problem-solving skills
