Reed Further Education are working with a college in Cambridge, who are looking for someone to join their dynamic team as a personal development coach and play a pivotal role in shaping the futures of young people aged 14–24+. This position is based within their esteemed construction department, where they will act as a mentor, motivator, and guide, particularly for students with higher needs or those at risk of disengagement.

The position is term time only working 38 weeks during the academic year.

Job Title: Personal Development Coach

Position: Mon to Fri, 37 hours, term-time only

Salary: £25,398 - £27,072 per annum actual.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver engaging T-Mail tutorials, 1:1 progress reviews, and Century learning sessions to enhance students' confidence in maths and English.
  • Support students with EHCPs, Exam Access Arrangements, and those at risk of non-completion.
  • Develop and implement a real-world Personal Development curriculum that prepares students for practical challenges.
  • Promote the use of assistive technology to foster independence and inclusion.
  • Lead and enhance college enrichment activities that focus on building life skills and wellbeing.
  • Serve as a mentor or buddy to new team members and contribute to ongoing departmental development.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, or pastoral support setting.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, EHCPs, and student support services.
  • Excellent communication skills and a genuine passion for supporting student success.
  • Confidence in using digital tools and an interest in assistive technology.
  • A flexible, team-oriented mindset with a proactive, student-first approach.
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths (minimum).

Desirable:

  • Level 3 Award in Education and Training, or willingness to work towards it.
  • Understanding of the construction industry and related career pathways is beneficial.
