NXTGEN is working with a prestigious Cambridge College to recruit an Accounts Assistant, a key role within their Finance Office. This position is instrumental in ensuring accurate and timely financial administration, supporting the College's ability to make informed decisions based on reliable accounting information.

Reporting to the Accounts Payable and Receivable Supervisor, the successful candidate will manage the Accounts Receivable function while providing general financial administration support to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Issue invoices for conference activity, internal department charges, and ad hoc income, ensuring VAT compliance and account reconciliations.

  • Manage credit control processes, including timely collection of outstanding payments and maintaining compliance with credit terms.

  • Perform bank reconciliations for multiple accounts, posting journals, and ensuring accurate account allocations.

  • Update and maintain customer and supplier records, including processing new supplier checks and adding accounts to the finance system.

  • Support broader financial administration tasks, including managing purchase orders, posting credit card expenditure, and overseeing Finance Office email inboxes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounts receivable, credit control, or a similar financial administration role, combined with excellent organisational and time management skills and a keen eye for detail. A proactive and flexible approach is essential, as is the ability to support team members in a collaborative environment. Familiarity with finance software systems and general ledger maintenance would be advantageous.
