Finance Assistant

Cambridge city centre

£27,000-£32,000 per annum

We are working with a city centre based organisation who require a conscientious Finance Assistant to join their well-established Finance team due to an upcoming retirement. This role is integral to operations, involving a variety of financial duties and offering a dynamic work environment.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Count, reconcile, and manage cash received from various points.
  • Organise and maintain cash float requirements and deliver cash to the bank.
  • Account for and record non-cash receipts, and perform prompt bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile cash transactions to general ledgers and bank statements.
  • Promptly allocate all fee receipts.
  • Process monthly Barclays Card expenses receipts for authorisation and post them to Microsoft Dynamic GP.
  • Arrange weekly non-purchase ledger payments and manage card cancellations from the EPOs system.
  • Provide support for audit queries and answer payment queries from college departments.
  • Provide cover for Purchase Ledger and Payroll as required and assist with duties in the absence of other staff.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education to at least GCSE Level in Maths and English.
  • AAT Intermediate level (desirable).
  • Strong knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Office, and financial systems, ideally gained within a Finance function.
  • Strong numeric skills.
  • Practical experience of Purchase Ledger and Payroll (highly desirable).
  • Ability to work with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate information and suggest system improvements.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage a variable workload.
