Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion & SEN)?? Location: Cambridge & Huntingdon?? Full-time, Permanent | 37 hours per week?? Salary: £44,409.00 per annumAre you an experienced education professional with a passion for inclusion, SEND, and leadership? We’re seeking an inspiring and strategic Assistant Head of Department (Inclusion & SEN) to lead and develop inclusive practices and learning support provision across two dynamic campuses in Cambridge and Huntingdon.This is a newly created, full-time permanent role offering a real opportunity to shape and implement outstanding inclusive learning for students with SEND and High Needs, ensuring they access a personalised and ambitious curriculum embedded with English and Maths within vocational learning.?? Key Responsibilities:
  • Lecture and coordinate Learning Support provision across the department
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Department, other Assistant Heads, Lecturers, and Technicians to align theory and practical learning
  • Design and implement inclusive learning strategies and personalised curricula for students with High Needs
  • Ensure efficient timetabling and staffing of Learning Support to support high student achievement
  • Lead, manage and mentor the Learning Support team, promoting excellence and inclusive practices
  • Champion equality, diversity, and inclusion across all learning environments
  • Monitor progress, support EHCP processes, and ensure compliance with audit requirements
  • Embed inclusive pedagogy within day-to-day teaching and support
  • Foster positive relationships with students, families, stakeholders, and external professionals
? What We’re Looking For:
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
  • A teaching qualification such as DTLLS, Cert Ed, or PGCE
  • Proven commitment to continued professional development
  • Extensive experience working with students with SEND, preferably in post-16 or specialist settings
  • Demonstrated success in leading or managing large teams
  • Strong understanding of inclusion strategies, the learner journey, and evidence required for compliance and audits
  • Confident in promoting high standards and modelling best practice within the classroom and wider organisation
  • A proactive, collaborative leadership style that promotes shared planning and innovation in inclusive education
