A top independent boarding school in Cambridge is seeking a dedicated and caring House Parent to join its boarding house staff team on a short-term basis, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent.

The Role

The House Parent position is one of trust and responsibility, operating in loco parentis between the school and parents. You will be responsible for the welfare, safety, and day-to-day pastoral support of young people, creating a warm, structured, and nurturing boarding environment that encourages independence and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing outstanding pastoral care and support to boarders
  • Promoting student welfare, safety, and wellbeing at all times
  • Supporting students' personal development and preparation for university life
  • Maintaining a positive, inclusive, and welcoming boarding house community
  • Working in line with school policies, procedures, and safeguarding standards

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Experience working with young people
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confidence using a PC, particularly Microsoft Word and Outlook
  • Proven experience working in line with established policies and procedures
  • This role would suit someone who is caring, professional, articulate, and committed to supporting young people in a residential education setting.
