The Role: What You'll Do

As an essential part of the Supported Learning team, you will provide tailored support to d/Deaf learners, helping to create a positive and productive learning environment. Your day-to-day duties will include:

  • Communication Facilitation: Use a range of communication modes and strategies (e.g., note-taking, BSL/SSE, Lip speaking) to ensure students can access and engage with lessons.
  • Classroom Collaboration: Liaise with teaching staff to advise on appropriate communication strategies and to adapt learning materials, ensuring they are accessible.
  • Student Support: Provide support for activities both in and out of the classroom, including residential trips, college visits, and examinations, in line with awarding body guidelines.
  • Technical Aid Assistance: Help students use technical aids like minicoms and radio aids to enhance their learning experience.
  • Material Preparation: Transcribe videos and prepare learning materials specifically tailored to the needs of individual d/Deaf learners.
