Job Title: Support Worker - SEN School (High-Functioning Children)Location: CambridgeContract Type: Full time, part timeJob Purpose:We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team in a specialist SEN school catering for high-functioning children, typically with autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, or other neurodiverse profiles. You will play a vital role in supporting pupils to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially, within a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment.Key Responsibilities:*Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to pupils with high-functioning SEN needs.*Support pupils in accessing the curriculum and participating in school activities.*Work closely with teaching staff, SENCO, therapists, and other professionals to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies.*Assist pupils with developing social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.*Promote positive behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policy.*Support pupils during transitions throughout the school day, including break and lunch times.*Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and incidents, and contribute to review meetings where appropriate.*Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and the wider school team.*Attend relevant training and engage in continuous professional development.Person Specification:Essential:*Experience working with children or young people, particularly those with SEN or neurodiverse conditions.*Understanding of autism and other high-functioning learning needs.*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.*Patience, empathy, and the ability to build trust and rapport with young people.*Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour constructively.Desirable:*Relevant qualification (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning, NVQ, or equivalent).*Previous experience in a school or educational setting.*Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.This post is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
