Reed Engineering are working with a well established local business who are seeking a skilled Fabricator Welder (MIG) to join their team, focusing on cutting and welding mild steel for structural steel projects. This role requires precision in assembling structures and parts and the ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings. Full training will be provided to comply with our UKCA FPC Welding Procedures.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Operate equipment to cut and weld mild steel for projects including flats, angles, universal columns, and beams.
  • Read drawings and take measurements to plan layout and procedures.
  • Determine the appropriate equipment or method based on requirements for MIG welding.
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as overhead cranes, saws, and guillotines.
  • Use a variety of manual or electrical tools like grinders, callipers, and squares.
  • Drive the forklift truck to unload steel delivery lorries on our site (training provided).
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a welder.
  • Familiarity with MIG welding procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and tools used in a fabrication workshop.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic math skills.
  • Full driving license required due to location of the company.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong communication skills and health and safety consciousness.
