Part-Time Behaviour Teaching Assistant (2:1 Support)

Location: Community Hub/Studnets home
Hours: 10 hours per week
Contract: Part-time / Term-time
Pay: 20-24 per hour (dependent on experience and training)

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Teaching Assistant to join our team in a community hub setting. The role involves 2:1 support alongside a qualified teacher, who will lead structured sessions for a student with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The Role:

  • Provide consistent, calm and proactive behaviour support during learning sessions
  • Work closely with the teacher to implement behaviour and engagement strategies
  • Support emotional regulation and positive behaviour management
  • Use de-escalation techniques and ensure the safety of the student and staff
  • Build a positive, trusting relationship with the student
  • Contribute to a nurturing and structured learning environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Up-to-date restraint training (mandatory)
  • Experience supporting children or young people with ASD and SEMH
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • Ability to remain calm, patient and professional in challenging situations

Desirable:

  • Experience in alternative provision, community hubs or specialist settings
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice
  • Team Teach or equivalent positive handling training
