We are seeking a dedicated Nursery Chef to join a lovely nursery on an ad-hoc basis to provide essential cover during holidays and periods of sickness. You'll be responsible for preparing healthy and appealing meals for approximately 80 children, playing a vital role in their well-being and development.

What you'll be doing:

As our ad-hoc Nursery Chef, your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and preparing well-balanced, nutritious, and tasty meals and snacks for around 80 children, catering to various dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Ensuring all meals are prepared in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
  • Managing kitchen stock levels, ordering ingredients as needed, and ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
  • Following nursery policies and procedures related to food preparation and safety.
  • Communicating effectively with nursery staff regarding meal plans and any dietary needs.

What we're looking for:

The ideal candidate will be a skilled and enthusiastic chef with a genuine interest in providing healthy food for young children. You will also possess:

  • Proven experience in food preparation, ideally within a nursery, school, or similar setting.
  • A strong understanding of healthy eating guidelines for young children.
  • The ability to cater for various dietary requirements and allergies with confidence.
  • Excellent knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices, with relevant certifications (e.g., Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage your workload effectively.
  • A positive and flexible attitude towards ad-hoc work.
  • You must hold an in-date Enhanced DBS certificate.
