My client, a forward-thinking and highly reputable firm, is seeking a motivated and meticulous individual to join their dynamic Costs Team as a Trainee. This is a fantastic long-term career opportunity within the specialised field of legal costs.The Role:Working within a dedicated Costs Team, you will play a crucial role in maximising the recovery of legal costs. This multifaceted position will see you supporting various departments, including Dispute Resolution, Personal Injury, and Clinical Negligence, as well as engaging with external clients.Your day-to-day responsibilities will be varied and include:
  • Drafting essential legal costs documentation such as bills of costs and statements of costs.
  • Preparing points of dispute and crafting effective replies.
  • Initiating costs and detailed assessment proceedings and applications.
  • Assisting with settlement negotiations.
  • Undertaking bundle preparation for court and other proceedings.
  • Liaising professionally with clients, solicitors, and other legal professionals.
  • Providing comprehensive day-to-day support to the Costs Team and other lawyers within the firm.
What My Client is Looking For:My client is seeking a promising individual who can demonstrate:
  • A recent degree, ideally in Law or a closely related field.
  • Exceptional attention to detail – this is paramount.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical abilities.
  • The capability to summarise and quantify large volumes of information effectively and write concisely in English.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload and manage time efficiently.
  • The capacity to work towards targets and perform effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • A genuine and strong desire to build a successful career in the legal costs sector.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
