The Opportunity

Our client is looking for an experienced Engineering Assessor / Lecturer to join their Apprenticeship provision and support the delivery of high-quality learning and assessment. This role offers the chance to work closely with apprentices, helping them progress successfully through Gateway and EPA while contributing to the smooth running of assessment processes. It's an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys teaching, mentoring, and shaping the next generation of skilled engineering professionals.

Key Responsibilities

The role will be split across assessment and teaching duties:

Assessment & Administration (15 hours per week)

  • Assess completed Level 3 Engineering apprenticeship portfolios
  • Support timely progression of apprentices to Gateway and EPA
  • Contribute to meeting awarding body and EQA requirements
  • Work alongside existing assessment and quality teams

Teaching & Apprentice Support (22 hours per week)

  • Deliver teaching to Engineering apprentices
  • Provide one-to-one support sessions
  • Prepare lessons and learning materials
  • Support apprentices on the Engineering Design and Development Apprenticeship Standard (Level 3)

Subject Area & Levels

  • Engineering Design and Development Apprenticeship Standard - Level 3
  • Engineering Technician portfolio assessment - Level 3

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • CAD
  • Principles of Engineering Design
  • Mathematics, including Mechanics
  • Materials Science
  • Experience working with apprentices
  • Experience assessing apprenticeship portfolios

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or above in Engineering (essential)

Additional Information

  • Role primarily based in Canterbury, with some travel to other sites
  • Contract may be extended depending on ongoing requirements

The role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks and ideally you will be on the update service, however we will cover the cost of a new DBS if this is not the case.
