Senior Architectural Technician

A leading multi-sector design consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Technician to join its Cardiff studio. This is a pivotal opportunity for a confident professional to take ownership of the technical delivery of residential projects, working across all stages from concept through to completion. With a diverse project portfolio spanning the residential, commercial, education, and leisure sectors, the practice offers a collaborative and design-led environment where technical excellence is valued and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the production of detailed technical drawings and construction packages
  • Provide technical leadership throughout all RIBA stages, particularly 3-5
  • Act as a main point of contact for clients, consultants, and contractors
  • Ensure full compliance with UK Building Regulations and relevant housing standards
  • Coordinate with internal and external teams to drive design and delivery quality
  • Mentor and supervise junior team members
  • Manage timelines and ensure smooth project progression
  • Contribute to sustainable and compliant design approaches

Skills & Experience Required

  • Degree or HNC/HND in Architectural Technology
  • Significant post-qualification experience in residential project delivery
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD
  • In-depth understanding of construction methods, detailing, and materials
  • Strong knowledge of planning policy, building regulations, and sustainability principles
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and manage team inputs
