FOR Cardiff have an opportunity for a Head of Marketing and Events to lead their Marketing and Communications team based in Cardiff City Centre. The purpose of the role is to lead the strategic place marketing programme to deliver corporate and consumer marketing, PR, and events, communicating the organisations diverse programme to business members and stakeholders.

Overview

The Head of Marketing and Events be a guardian of the FOR Cardiff brand and sub-brands and play a key role in evolving a narrative around Cardiff as a place. The Head of Marketing and Events will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to amplify messaging of the organisation’s vision and purpose, both what we do and why we do it, ensuring clear and coherent communication to members and stakeholders across multiple channels, broadening influence and reaching new audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Place Marketing workstream programme and budget including development and delivery of annual plan that aligns with the FOR Cardiff vision and strategy and delivers value to our members.
  • Managing the Place Marketing working group ensuring a strong membership and skill set spread from member businesses representatives.
  • Reporting on the Place Marketing Workstream to the SLT and Board.
  • Lead on all B2C events (including but not limited to Christmas & City of Arcades) that boost its reputation, footfall and spend to the city.
  • Explore opportunities to develop the programme of events, either directly coordinated or through partnerships.
  • Identify and monitor trends within cities, culture and communities ensuring the FOR Cardiff programme responds, staying close to the evolving needs of businesses.
  • Act as a brand guardian. Work across workstreams to ensure all marketing collateral, digital outputs and environmental branding are developed in line with brand guidelines.
  • Explore opportunities to raise additional funding and/or strategic partnerships to boost the profile of the company or campaign/project activity.
  • Design of key documents such as the annual report.
  • Play a key role in the 2026 ballot campaign, in particular the development of the proposal document and the communications campaign.

  • A creative thinker with demonstrable experience of bringing forward new ideas.
  • Impeccable written and oral communication skills with the ability to adapt style fora range of publications and audiences.
  • Able to communicate professionally and confidently to a range of stakeholders.
  • A strong team player, with a passion for developing people.
  • Experience of partnership working with strong deliverable outcomes
  • Initiative-taking and self-motivated, ability to prioritise own workload and to work to tight deadlines.
  • Appreciation of the challenges and opportunities facing cities and Wales.
  • Knowledge of issues facing tourism sector stakeholders, local resident, and business communities in relation to redevelopment, regeneration, and fluctuating visitor numbers.

Relevant Experience & Qualifications

  • Adobe or similar platforms
  • Significant people management experience
  • Events delivery and management
  • Budget management experience and reporting
  • Proven track record of implementing multi-channel marketing strategies.
  • Experience with company strategy and change management.
  • An understanding of Business Improvement Districts, local and central government and their structures and relationships desirable.
